Worldbuilding from a Blank Page
Hello Hello I’m Patrick and I’m a Sculptor. And I recently committed to building a world.
But when I started I found the whole process a bit overwhelming. How do people come up with cool ideas? How do I make sure it's not just a bad copy of someone else’s much better work? What is a world? And how do you build one?
It all seemed a bit troublesome. Don’t worry though, if you watched my last video you know I’ve got this concept for my world around the title “When the Stars Fell.” If you recall the core idea is some cataclysmic event happened that caused life on the surface to end and the only creatures that survived were those that burrow, root, and are typically found underground. With the cataclysm came these large glowing rocks, called stars, and so the civilization that we are building toward is built around this unique resource of glowing rocks that provide light, wealth, and magic.
That’s the rough idea. But how did I get from a blank page to something that inspires me? That’s the goal of this video.
I also made a free resource with some questions to help guide your initial worldbuilding.
Good luck!
