In Conclusion
And so, dear reader, we arrive at the end. Well, this end is less of a traditional closing of the subject, and very likely marks a beginning. Much like the fork in the road, you must decide whether to pick it up, bring it home, wash it, and add it into your rotation, or to move it aside so that no cars run it over and puncture a tire. What you can’t do is ignore it. That would be rude.
Because now you know. You know, all I have found to know about goblins. But even moreso you have discovered that life and history is complicated and hard to believe. And so, as we part, I must leave you with two questions. The first is the great first question of all historians in the mystical realm. Are these stories to be believed? The second: what are you going to do about it? And regardless of your answer to the first question allow me to offer one very important thing to be done about it: keep your eyes open for the wondrous things of life. The prospects of daily life can be draining and bleak. But if you learn to expect it and keep watch for it, life can be surprising and magical.
Take it from me, a boring historian, if you look for joy you will find it. And often in weird places, with weird people. And that’s the kind of life I want to live. I hope you do too.
