On Incursions
The Goblin’s initial arrival happened within the bounds of a park deep in the heart of Toronto. At first, it seemed to them that they had merely been teleported from one point to another.
Some found this funny, some were afraid, and some were bored. These feelings only grew as they looked upon the horizon and saw oddly shaped buildings, heard the monstrous sounds of cars, and eventually encountered the most strange of creatures: humans.
After some initial chaos, the goblins began to settle into this new world.
The Matter of Goblin Migration and Their Initial Arrival
A new realm, rich with wealth and a populous of humans, who were not ready or prepared for this first incursion (or any that followed). For some, entry into our world was a glorious opportunity.
But the adjustment was hard for others.
With a brief discussion of the First Incursion, it seems wise to take a moment to enlighten you on the phenomena known as Incursions.
The First Incursion, as suggested by the title, was not the last incursion and over the course of several decades there were ten known incursions. It is likely that there were many incursions exceeding the ten known. However, after ten, people seemed to stop counting and caring when a goblin or other magical creature arrived and were much more focused on what to do with the creatures before them.
Incursions, for the purposes of our discussion, refer to the entry and arrival of beings from one world to Earth. While the word bears an aggressive tone, it would be unfortunate to conclude that these incursions were of a military or conquest nature. Barring the unfortunate events of the 4th incursion, all other incursions represented an accidental crossing.
The goblins were the only creatures to arrive during the first incursion and the most notable incursions of goblins occurred in the 3rd and 8th incursions. Both significantly increased the goblin populous on earth and so have been commonly known as the Goblin Incursions. But the term is in itself a misnomer because besides the First Incursion, every other incursion included more than simply goblins.
The other incursions and creatures that came with them are not in the scope of this text and so will be reserved for future work.
